2.6 Challenges faced by the Department
The continued rise in social ills with the reducing compensation
budget places a strain on employees and the limited resources
required them to do more with less.
The COVID-19 pandemic continued to impose challenges that
require creative and innovative ways of working. The hybrid model
of remote and office working required new ways of managing staff
performance. It placed a demand on work tools and styles.
The general unemployment situation of the country has had an
impact on the Department with unemployed social work graduates
demanding employment in Social Development Sector.
